Stitching wildflowers
My embroidery art is inspired by the common wild plants we see all around us. It can be so hard to find time to stop and notice beautiful details around us. Making wildflowers part of my work gives me time to look more closely and learn more about them.
Hand embroidery doesn’t have to be complicated but it does take time. Stitching wildflowers by hand gives me time to enjoy the details. And it’s always satisfying to see the finished result and remember how it felt to work on it, and which parts of it were the most fun to do.
You’ll find familiar favourites in my embroidery stickers and hopefully a few that aren’t so well known. I find that once I notice a flower that looks new to me, it stands out in all the meadows and hedgerows or woodland afterwards.
I enjoy looking for everyday details and making them stand out. You can make posies and garlands that last all year round and take a reminder of warm sunny days through the winter.
